COUNSELING & SUPPORT

We firmly believe that as we're educating young minds, our students' hearts should never be neglected.

Social-emotional learning is a part of every student's experience through a curriculum developed by our counseling team that focuses on building strong friendships, conflict resolution, and effective communication.

Our three full-time counselors are available to meet with students, parents, and teachers to provide individual counseling, guidance, and outside referrals as needed. Through our counseling and advisory programs and differing levels of academic support, we aim to create a caring environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and can make meaningful connections with faculty and peers.

Our counseling program aims to reflect Christ in all of our interactions and to provide students and their families with the best guidance and resources possible for relational, spiritual, and mental health.

Advisory

Students in grades 7-12 are assigned to advisory groups that serve as safe spaces for students to find support and build strong relationships with teachers and peers. Middle School advisory groups are established by grade level and gender while Upper School students stay with the same advisor for all four years of high school. Students in PreK3-grade 6 receive these nurturing services in the homeroom setting.

We believe that parents are the foundation of a child's well-being. In an effort to support our families, the counseling team offers a variety of resources through our Parent Engagement Program, including a monthly newsletter, a counseling blog, and parent seminars on relevant topics. Dunham parents are encouraged to reach out to a member of the counseling team if they are in need of support or have concerns about their children's social or emotional well-being.
